Director's Statement
The first time I read "Betsy", I was sitting behind an editor in a dark editing bay. I finished the last page, closed the script and for a long time I sat silently, feeling every bit of the darkness.
To me the work that resonates most is that which goes beyond emotion. It cannot be summed up or labeled. Words fail. Instead it feels like the music of life... countless notes making impossible chords.
I knew I needed to make this film. I also knew that the only way to do it was to stay out of its way, to let it be as small as can be. From the music to the colors to the titles, we have tried to let these two amazing young actresses simply tell this story.
It has been a passion project for me ever since and I'm very proud to have brought it into this world.
